Tales of Symphonia Remastered starts out like a familiar trip down memory lane. While it is admittedly more readily available, it is ostensibly the worst way to play Tales of Symphonia. ![]() It provides no new updates or upgrades (in fact, it has less content than its predecessor because it lacks the Dawn of the New World spin-off included in Chronicles), runs at an unsteady 30 fps, has terrible load times, has input lag when docked, crashes on occasion (especially before cutscenes), and has compromised audiovisual quality. Tales of Symphonia Remastered, on the other hand, is not a good game - especially on Nintendo Switch. Tales of Symphonia Chronicles on the PlayStation 3 is also a pretty good game: it displays the original in HD, has extra content, and it runs reasonably smoothly (despite its downgrade in framerate from the GCN original). I have fond memories of renting Symphonia on the GameCube over and over from a local video rental store in the 2000s, and I think it still holds up today. It’s time for Bandai Namco to make these games more accessible to the gaming community.The original Tales of Symphonia for Nintendo GameCube is a good game. Collections of the multiple game lines, such as the PS1 Digimon World games, the Rumble Arenas, or the DS Digimon Story games, would be great options. These absurd but entertaining tactics RPGs should have a place on a current system like the Switch.ĭigimon, a popular series since 1998, has never had a remaster. ![]() The game features characters from Capcom, Namco, Sega, and even Nintendo. Project X Zone is a curious mix of different IPs in a strategy RPG. An HD Remaster Collection would be a great opportunity to introduce these games to a wider audience. While some spin-offs were published in the West, the mainline titles and spin-offs such as the Swordcraft Story series never received the same attention. An HD edition of Fragile Dreams on modern systems would allow players to appreciate its impressive ambiance.įlight-Plan, a small Japanese developer, created the Summon Night series, which includes strategy RPGs with dating sim elements. This unique action-adventure game was developed for the Wii and has a bleak, post-apocalyptic environment. These games, although considered simplisticsome, would benefit from a modern pack with quality-of-life features.Īnother game that deserves a revival is Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins to the Moon. But the series has more to offer, including three platformers and one action RPG made for handhelds. One such game is Klonoa, which had a recent re-release for its two mainline titles.
